Marcelino: "We were a recognisable, competitive team"
Valencia CF took another preseason win in their game against Sporting CP in Portugal on Sunday night, competing well with a side who were further along in their preparations for the upcoming campaign. Speaking after the match, Marcelino reflected positively on the work done by his players.
Two wins in a row
"In general, we performed fairly well. We were a recognisable, competitive team, generating a lot of good chances and allowing the opposition few of them. We have to improve, but we should be calm. We were up against opponents who had played more preseason games than us, and we are satisfied."
Picking up concepts
"There is a big difference between those who have spent two years with us and those who have just arrived. Those who have been here longer have spent a lot of time working on similar concepts and making the way we play automatic, with a style with which the team identify. However, the adaptation by the new players has been favourable, we are progressing in every way in order to get to the first LaLiga game in the best shape."
Goals for strikers
"It's very satisfactory to have our strikers scoring. Goals are what give you victories."
Cheryshev's return
"We were very prudent with the stages of his recovery. He might have a bit of discomfort, but nothing big enough to keep him from participating and progressing. He is training normally and is going to play more minutes all the time."
